Hearing – the development of the senses in Montessori pedagogy

2 June 2019

At birth, the baby already recognizes certain voices, including that of his mother, which reassures him when he turns up out of his mother’s womb.

Then, and before being able to speak, the baby understands a few words and decodes especially precisely the intonations.

To develop his aural senses, it is essential to speak to him a maximum from his birth, slowly and articulating. Verbalize what you do, name objects, parts of his body …

It is also important to sing for him and listen to music as long as it is of good quality and not permanently as background noise.

Rattles, sensory tubes or sound boxes are also very effective to sensitize the baby from his youngest age.
